Hello Ezra the Destroyer!

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

Ezra has learned how to wave! He waves one hand and also waves two hands; he waves hello and I think he also waves goodbye. He waves to the big piles of blocks and containers and toys that have been stacked up by mom or dad or grandma right before he knocks them down, sending blocks and toys and other things flying every which way. And then he waves some more! Waving and destroying towers of toys are things that make Ezra happy these days : )

Upside-Down Ezra

Monday, June 9th, 2008

I was holding Ezra upside-down today and thinking how much I wish hanging upside-down made me laugh and smile as much as it does Ezra.

Maybe it is the rush of blood to head, or it could be the change of perspective, that makes a fussy Ezra or serious Ezra into a giggling and smiling Ezra? I don’t know. I do know giving Ezra a minute of upside-down time will leave him red faced and laughing. And he likes it even more when he is hung upside-down, and I am walking around so he can move around in the funny upside-down world. Upside-down Ezra is a great thing for it is a easy way to make Ezra happy.

Three Step Ezra

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

Some time between Ezra chasing around Sassy the Cat, searching through some of the kitchen drawers, knocking down towers of blocks and toys, crawling round his corral, walking around his corral, clapping, waving, shaking head, climbing steps, wrestling with Jigga the cat, looking out windows, playing under the kitchen table, playing with is toy drum, banging on walls and windows…Ezra took three steps all on his own.

He crawled to a stand with the help of the couch and then pushed away from the couch stepping once, twice then three times then he fell to the ground and began crawling around again making a high pitched squeal letting everyone know the fun was not over.

Two Steps!

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

Ezra took two steps, all by himself, today!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He was standing between me and grandma O, then he walked two steps to get to grandma!

But, he still seems to prefer crawling to get from point A to point B quickly : )

Still Standing Alone

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

Ezra still stands alone. He stands with a smile and a wavering uncertainty of what he is to do next. He stands now for seconds at a time for many times during the day. And he is even now taking a few sliding steps.

Falls are controlled plummets to butt that end with a small thud. These falls don’t incite tears or fussing only crawling to the nearest vertical surface, so he can crawl to a stand and walk around.

Next to come: Walking without support! And more work for -v- and me.

WHERE IS TOOTH #8???

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

On March 28th teeth #7 and #8 were thought to be coming in. On April 14th teeth #7 and #8 were believed to be seen. In truth, only tooth #7 was real and only tooth #7 exists. Then there was some worry about the non-existent tooth #8 on May 3rd. Time passed then WE, yes WE, thought we seen tooth #8 on May 19th. I even wrote Teeth #8 and #9, #10 Are. But to our disappointment tooth #8 still doesn’t exist, and we are wondering where the hell it is?

(For those not familiar with baby teeth and their typical growing patterns, baby teeth usually grow in symmetrical pairs.)

More Ground To Graze

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

The EZ-O Corral increased sized on Saturday, and Ezra seems to be liking the new area. This means the entire main floor sans the Red Room and Mud Room are open for Ezra play.

The new section of the EZ-O Corral did take some preparation. There was the removal of stacks of medical records, bill receipts, pamphlets, magazines, books. book covers, CD cases that were removed from the coffee table and the stand in what was the first area of the EZ-O Corral and moved to the floor of the new section to be put away some day when we had time, but Ezra has had all that time. This stuff was moved to the Red Room, and a gate was screwed to block the opening to the Red Room. The floor was cleaned. The outlets were plugged. The shelves were cleaned and arranged, so all that Ezra could reach was out of reach. The small bucket of pennies was moved along with the pens. The half height window curtains were raised half way to be out Ezra’s reach. The windows and trim was wiped of dust. The bookshelf and stands were dusted.

Once the new section of the EZ-O Corral was prepared, I opened up the corral by moving a chair with pillows under seat (so Ezra couldn’t crawl through) between wall and couch or kitchen counter and kitchen wall.

Ezra entered and inspected the area. Ezra found a loose piece of trim, access to wires and power strip, a weighting machine that is cheap and would probably break once Ezra threw it around enough.

I nailed the trim, angled the coffee table still between couch and wall to block off the wires and electrical strip. -v- put the weighing machine under the couch.

Ezra likes to roam the new area. He is finding food dropped from meals on the carpet floor allowing him to graze before -v- and I can clean up the dropped food.
