Night, Night…Maybe..

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

Ezra says, ,,Night, night,” when he is ready for sleep. Well, Ezra use to say, ”Night, night,” when he was ready for sleep. Now he says it when he is ready to go to his room at night near the normal sleep time to play with the Fire Truck Bed and the blocks and books and his little toy fire engine and look out the window and climb over me or -v-.

During this time, we have tried to prepare him for bed, but he’s becoming more of a fuss to get his pajamas on before Night, Night (most nights). He kicks and fusses and whines and cries. He give us the pouty lip and the mad shake of the head. He sheds tears that only a method actor could appreciate.

Maybe his sleeping schedule is changing? Maybe he doesn’t need the same amount of sleep? Maybe it is the Summer light that is keeping him awake? Maybe he is prepping for his teenage years?

Whatever it is, Night, Night has taken on a whole new meaning. It means we are now going to go to his room and nothing more.

Independent Ezra

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

He didn’t want to hold my had down the steps from house as we went outside. He didn’t want to hold my hand while crossing the street. He didn’t want any help getting his push/ride dump truck unstuck from grass when he went off roading. He resisted my gentle push to keep him going when crossing an easement to a store’s parking lot. He didn’t want me to stand right next to him while we watched cars. He was happy to let me carry him back to the house, but wanted to climb the stairs by himself once we arrived home.

Ezra Is Awake

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

He is. In fact, we were just upstairs to get his socks on for he has decided he wants to remain awake.

…His is still awake. It is dark. I can hear him sucking on his binky. He and -v- are on the couch. They sit lengthwise on the couch with Ezra sitting with back on -v-’s stomach. Their legs form V’s and blanket covers. He is sitting how he sat when he was watching videos with Grandma O. It is how he likes to sit on the couch now.

…Now they are laying on couch. He doesn’t want me near. He screamed and squirmed when I carried him down the stairs instead of -v- carrying him down the stairs.

…Now he is sleeping. …He was. Valerie is checking… Will he?

No Museum for Us

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

We had a fun weekend with Ezra, which included multiple trips to multiple parks, and a trip to the Zoo. The zoo trip was intended to be a trip to the Children’s museum (which is right next to the zoo) to see the Bob the Builder exhibit. The first 20 minutes we were there, we investigated the train at the nearby forestry center. Then we walked to the museum. Ezra inspected the little front loader/bobcat that was parked outside. He had another fun 10 minutes of this, and we tried and tried to get him to go inside the museum, but he just had no interest. He did seem interested when we asked if he wanted to go see animals. So, we went to the zoo. This zoo visit was much better than the previous one, as it was a bit warmer and more animals were active. I think Ezra liked the sea lions the best, and we also got to see the baby elephant. The builder exhibit is at the museum for another couple months, so maybe we will try again some day.

Still #2

Saturday, April 25th, 2009

Ezra says, ,,Da-dee, da-dee, da-dee…” to include me when going outside or going up stairs to change a poopy diaper and watch the poop flush from the toilet, but he doesn’t need me to do these things. Ezra needs -v-. Ezra says, ,,Mommy, mommy,” or, ”No, no, no…” if -v- is not going outside or brushing teeth or reading a book with Ezra. In fact, unless -v- is away, Ezra only seems to play blocks with me and not need -v- near when she is in the house.

It is true if -v- is away, I do become a #1 with the #2 left empty until -v- returns.

I am happy I get to be the #2 person in Ezra’s life as long as the #1 is -v-.

Wanted A Suck On The Binky

Friday, April 24th, 2009

So Ezra was finally dressed and ready for playcare this morning. We finally got his diaper, pants, shirt and socks on without much fuss. Then there were the shoes. THE SHOES! The shoes were almost on, and he began to point to couch and say socks or something that sounded like socks and there were no socks on the couch, but he wanted something on the couch that sounded like socks, but there was nothing there! And then he wanted his socks off, so he pulled off a sock, and we thought he wanted another pair socks, and we just wanted to get the shoes on and go to playcare, but he really wanted socks from the couch, but there was nothing on the couch, and I showed him there was nothing on the couch. Then he began to say jacket and want his jacket. Then I got the wrong jacket, and he freaked and began to want his binky, binky, binky, binky and -v- got his shoes on as I went looking for his binky thinking that I want a suck or two of the binky to see if it would calm me before giving to it him.

Bee Bee Bum Song

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

Ezra can identify a picture of a bumble bee, and I think maybe at daycare Ezra learned the song about squishing up a baby bumble bee. Lately, when Ezra sees a picture of a bee, or even a real bee, he says “Bee Bee Bum Bee Bee Bum” many times and holds his hands together like he’s bringing home the baby bumblebee so that I will sing the song for him. He thinks it’s a pretty funny song. I think it’s so cute hearing him say “bee bee bum bee bee bum” repeatedly : )

Joygasm

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Ezra, at times, appeared to be near exploding with joy seeing the tens of buses and many trains and taxis that he shouted bye and hi loud enough to be louder than honking horns, corner musicians, echoing bus motors, chatting people all enjoying the bright day downtown.

While we ate on a park bench, Ezra almost got whiplash trying to say hi and bye to every buss and taxi driving past. ,,Bye, bye. Hi. Bye, bye. Hi…”

Then there was the park. He acted like he was on skateboard when two skateboard kids rolled past. He ran through the park and slid on slides. He tried to play baseball. He smiled and laughed. Then we were home. He said, ”Outside, outside…” only a few times before he was realizing he was inside and Night Night was soon.

Fire Engine Bed?

Monday, April 20th, 2009

Fire Truck Bed

We set up Ezra’s Fire Engine Bed on Saturday. We move some things around and have it set up at an angle from a corner of his room.

Ezra was happy to see the Fire Engine Bed, and he goes upstairs to visit the Fire Engine Bed. He walks on the mattress. He stands and puts his forearms on top of the hood. He looks through the windows. He sits on it. But he has yet to sleep on it. He still wants to sleep in is crib.

And he doesn’t seem to want anything but him to be on the bed. If someone else attempts to get on the bed like -v-, me or a cat, he wants them off. The couple of time we have put a pillow or a book on the Fire Engine Bed, it has been removed.

So far is a Fire Engine Toy. Fortunately it was bought used, so it was pretty cheap. And he does seem to like to play with the Fire Engine Bed if not sleep on it

OUTSIDE

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

Outside we seen firetrucks, trains, planes, motorcycles, buses, houses, sidewalks, dandelions and the bright and shining SUN. Outside we walked, strolled, picked weeds, looked at trees, waited for trains that we heard then seen. Outside we played at a park, and Ezra slid down slides.

Ezra’s cheeks are red from being outside. Outside was the word most spoke by Ezra today for if he was not sleeping inside he wanted to be outside and said ,,Outside, outside, outside, outside, outside, outside…” like a vinyl record skipping. This was okay until it was time to come inside and eat dinner and ready for bed then outside became a word to cry.

Snot Snot and More Snot

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

Ezra’s had a cold, or some other sort of respiratory virus, for a week or so. He had a couple of days where he was really lethargic and sleepy, and then the snot machines were turned on. He’s always got snot on his face somewhere, either in the form of a weird crusty dried on booger that lodged itself into his eyebrow while he was sleeping, to a slightly tacky stripe of snot that he smeared onto his own cheek while attempting to wipe his own nose, to the twin rivulets that issue forth from his nostrils at many many many points during the day. A good thing is that Ezra has learned that when he wants someone to wipe the snot off his face, all he has to do is say “nose nose nose” and we know to track down a snot rag of some sort. I’m hoping that with the nicer weather we’re having and with the extra sleep he’s been getting, he will be snot-free for Monday, when he goes back to playcare after a week’s vacation.

Ezra’s A Cheese

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

Ezra has learned how to react to a camera being pulled out. He knows the sound of the click and the sight of the flash and the understanding of the command, ,,Over here Ezra.” He knows to turn to face the camera after he hears the sound or after the second flash or react to the command. He turns and smiles and poses. If he has his binky in mouth he will take the binky out of mouth to smile and wait for the camera to turn away before he reinserts the binky into mouth and resume what he was doing.

Él es la mano derecha

Monday, April 13th, 2009

Ezra is right-handed. Everytime he calls out to, ,,Pintar,” he most often holds the drawing tool, the pen or crayon, in his right hand. Once in a while he will hold the drawing tool in his left hand but after what feels like frustration he will put the drawing tool in his right hand and pintar.

Possession

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

If I were a religious person, I would have believed tonight Ezra had a daemon inside. It wasn’t the uncontrollable crying. It wasn’t the snot covering his face and the tears streaming down his cheeks and dripping from chin. It wasn’t the crying and speaking that made him sound like he was speaking tongues. It wasn’t his flopping on the ground to prevent either -v- or me from picking him up to change his diaper before sleep. It was all of this during on instant of him in the corner of his room with the lamp light hitting him just right and him screaming, ,,NO, NO, NO, NO!!!” with his head twisting madly side to side to side.

Fucking Molars

Friday, April 10th, 2009

The joy of seeing the molars has been cried away and lost somewhere between sleep. Ezra has woke about one once a night which is far less than the teething of the past, but tonight and today the molars seem to have Ezra suppressed. He had a slight fever. He just laid around and wasn’t that excited about anything. He seemed depressed. Yes, they are fucking molars because they cause him pain, but really it is good that he is going to get molars then he won’t have to feel the pain of the fucking molars again or of not being able to chew.

…This is all assuming what is causing the issues are the molars. It could be a fucking cold or fever, but likely is not.

Lots And Lots Of Fire Trucks…

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

The love of machines continues. His love has expanded to fire trucks. -v- got him a bed and found this video…

It is a video we hear daily. I have even caught myself singing it at work and while I am walking around.
