Another Penny Found

Sunday, October 31st, 2010

Another penny was found this morning by Ezra for his football kicking stand. He’s been finding and saving coins for a kicking stand ever since he got his football and then found a nickle.

Cleaning Up For Grandma O

Saturday, October 30th, 2010

Ezra has been a cleaner lately. He cleaned his room last week. He moved all his toys from the main living area to his room. And today he has been busy cleaning-up for Grandma O to come visit. Of course, many times the cleaning is usually followed by playing with toys and spreading them around the house.

Toy Story Stuff

Monday, October 25th, 2010

Ezra now likes Toy Story. He likes it in the way that he used to like the Cars movie.  Specifically, he likes Toy Story 2, and his favorite character is Buzz. We were out shopping this weekend and Ezra spotted a Toy Story lunch box, and Toy Story thermos. I successfully shielded him from the Toy Story sandwich container, the Toy Story snack container, the Toy Story, etc. etc. These match his Toy Story t-shirt and Toy Story backpack.  I’m frankly surprised he didn’t want to be someone from Toy Story for Halloween.  Disney-Pixar sure is good at marketing their stuff.

Finer Points of Football

Sunday, October 24th, 2010

As I watch Football with Ezra, I find myself defining not only the fundamentals of the game, but also finer points like the commercial, the replays, the cheerleaders, the fans, the animals on helmets and if the game is over yet. Ezra wants to know why they don’t play much and stand around and show the same play over and over making him wonder and ask aloud often, ,,It the game over?”

Shiny Race Car Driver Jump Suit

Saturday, October 23rd, 2010

Ezra had all the option to be what he wanted to be for Halloween: Ref, Football Player, Soccer Player, Garbage Man, and he wants to be a Race Car Driver. And I got to see the outfit tonight that he will be wearing to his Halloween Party, and it is a Shiny Race Car Driver Jump Suit. And he raced around the house dressed in the outfit ready to drive it around for Halloween.

Yikes

Friday, October 22nd, 2010

Ezra is going to bed right now. We had a fun week! The week included the annual trip to the pumpkin patch with Ezra’s preschool. I had a fun time with the kids on the trip…I definitely think that I have the most well behaved kid in the school because he was so good at listening to his mom. I also had fun hanging out with Ezra’s friend big C. Multiple kids are fun when they are not your own.

Pillows That Looked Like Logs

Sunday, October 17th, 2010

We went to Seattle for a wedding and reception where Ezra got cake. We rode the mono-rail and went to the top of the Space Needle where Ezra rode on my shoulders around the Space Needle, so he could see around the Space Needle. Then -v- bought Ezra Space Strawberries and a need sign with the Space Needle and Monorail to go above his map of the U.S.A.. Then we went to Pike Place Market and seen many things. I chased Ezra around a grass land scape while we played a football game. We drove to Seattle and back with Ezra watching videos with claymation sheep, a big red dog and garbage trucks.

When asked by -v- what his favorite thing about the trip, Ezra said he liked playing in the hotel room with the pillows that looked like logs. We did have a good time making a few forts with those pillows that looked like logs, a few sheets and the iron board that Ezra said like a gurny, which it did.

Good Morning

Saturday, October 16th, 2010

Ezra sits on couch leaning against me while he looks at a book and mumbles the lyrics to Hall and  Oates’ song Private Eyes.

Sucking On Lips

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

So, Ezra seems to have replaced sucking on his binky with sucking on his lips.

He switches-up his lips sucking. Some times one at a time. Some times both at one time. Every time, I tell him to not suck on his lips or they will get chapped. And now they are chapped, so he looks kind of like he has ice cream around his bottom lip. And now it itches, so he sucks more to sooth the itch. And I tell him to stop sucking on his lips, and we put chap stick on his lips. And it helps, but comes off when he sucks on his lips next. …At least, he doesn’t fuss for his binky.

…Still Loves Football

Tuesday, October 12th, 2010

He has created his indoor football game that we played tonight and last night. I told him tonight he can’t throw the football in the house anymore because he is beginning to actually be able to throw the ball.

Last night he got fussy after -v- and I told him he can’t sign-up for beginner football, but he could sign-up for beginner soccer in part because there is no beginner football for three year olds and partly because we will make him wait for years before signing him up for football.

So…I don’t think he will stop liking football anytime soon.

Fun Time

Sunday, October 10th, 2010

We went to Corvallis this weekend. Ezra had fun with the grandparents, especially watching football. Yeah. Football. We saw the Beavers win which was great, but I am not so excited about the football all the time. When we got home we took ezra to the park with the football. He was having fun and saw some older boys rolling down the hill so he wanted to do the same. I think he is a pretty rough and tumble kid.

Ezra’s Not Ready To Give Away Books

Saturday, October 9th, 2010

Ezra wanted more space cleared on the floor of his room today, so he had a desire to clean. -v- suggested that maybe we could take some of his many books to a used bookstore for other kids to read for some of the books are books kids younger than Ezra would enjoy more. And some of the book he no longer wants to have read to him. so we went through all his book. At first,  Ezra felt to be ready to let go of some of his books, but after taking each book one by one and asking Ezra if he still wanted the book there remained all but two books in the Keep Pile.

The Straw The Broke Ezra’s Mood

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

So, I got Ezra from pre-school, and Ezra was in good mood. We played in my car, and Ezra was in a good mood. We came in the house, and I started dinner. We talked, and things were calm. …Until Ezra wanted some juice. I said, ,,Okay.” So, I got a cup, but Ezra wanted a special cup that needs a straw. I told him we didn’t have any straws. Ezra insisted we had one left and pointed to were the straws were at. And there was the straw box and inside there was a straw, but it was a half straw that wouldn’t work with the cup that needed a full straw. This was not something Ezra could accept. He wanted a straw that was not cut and he wanted it then and there and wanted to scream that fact. Then everything went down hill from there as we both got tense and fussy.

Where’s The Number 44?

Sunday, October 3rd, 2010

We are watching the Colts and Jaguars play or as Ezra calls them the White and Blue teams because Ezra asked if he could watch some football. Right now, Ezra is wondering if number 44 is back in the game after getting hit in the ribs. …Number 44 is back in the game.

I’m The Announcer

Sunday, October 3rd, 2010

Ezra woke wanting to go kick the football in the back yard. After kicking the football for more than a few kicks, Ezra wanted to go to the park to throw the football around. So, he and I went to the park, and I threw the ball while he ran after the ball, grabbed the ball and ran the ball back to me. I was the quarter back and he was the receiver/running back. Then -v- arrived at the park, and Ezra cut me to second string quarter back as he gave the starting quarterback position to -v-.

After being cut as quarterback, I was given the position of Talker or Announcer. I announced -v- throwing the ball then Ezra running and getting the ball only to run to back to -v-. They played, and I announced until the game was rained out. And then Ezra announced, ,,The team is going home.”

Football Kicker

Saturday, October 2nd, 2010

Ezra is convinced for now that the football kicker is the best position in football. We even practiced place kicking many many times today in the back yard after Ezra wanted to go outside and play with the new football. He did throw the football around at first, but wanted to place kick the football with no prompting to me though I have mentioned a few times during the past the kicker plays my favorite position in football, and he always does like to watch the field goals and kick-offs when watching football. Maybe he will remain convinced place kicker is the postion to play when and if he decides he wants to play football, and then maybe -v- won’t worry as much about Ezra liking football and wanting to play.
