Chapstick Lips

Saturday, February 26th, 2011

During Ezra’s phase of lip licking, we had problems having him put on chapstick or anything on his lips to help his chapped lips. While his lips haven’t been chapped for months, he has found a new like of chapstick as he is putting it on through out the day leaving a thick paste of chapstick on lips. Now, we need to tell him not to put too much chapstick on his lips.

Snow day

Thursday, February 24th, 2011

Today ezra and I stayed home today because school got canceled sure to a few flakes of snow. Which melted by about, oh, 9am. So basically we had a day at home. It was a nice day for a nice day at home. I hope tomorrow the school will not be closed. Although maybe kalab could have a nice day at home.

Things

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

It’s one of those days when mind is numb, and I am feeling dumb, and when stress has caused a headache, and the last thing I wanted to do is run home from work to get in car and drive through traffic and get Ezra from preschool. It is one of those days when I was fussing at other drivers and having a hard time navigating between the parked cars. But then I get Ezra, and we talk and talk and we get home and we go for a walk to the park,  and the headache goes away, and I don’t feel so dumb and life is no longer numb because Ezra and I are talking about our day and sticks and games and many other things.

Rockstar

Monday, February 21st, 2011

I need to perfect my air guitar skills and ability to create guitar sounds with my mouth if I am going to remain in Ezra’s rock band while we play rockstar, a new game Ezra created last night. There are no winners or losers in this game for there are only rockstars and fans. So far, I am in the band and there for a rockstar. -v- is not a rockstar, but a fan. We both support Ezra, who is the lead singer/dance, who performs on his rock stage (his bed).

Teeth Brushing

Sunday, February 20th, 2011

While Ezra is more often than not good when it comes to letting us brush his teeth, I still await for the day when he can do it himself for it is sometimes difficult to brush another’s teeth. The good thing is that he does brush his own teeth during the morning and wants to brush his own teeth, but the bad thing is he still has much practice before he can learn good technique and habit, but the that comes with practice, and Ezra is more than happy to brush his teeth himself, which is a great start!

Dinosaur Train

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

The dinosaur phase other parents have told me about may becoming into phase and brough into phase by a Dinosaur Train. Tiny is the favorite. The cardboard house has even been called the Tiny’s Tiny Place by Ezra.

Remolding Cardboard House

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

Ezra has added some new wallpaper stickers to the outside of his cardbaord house as well as some drawings. Inside the cardbaord house, Ezra has painted the walls with his marker.

There is also now an imaginary porch and some real chairs for me to sit when visiting.

The Valentines are ALL for me

Sunday, February 13th, 2011

We had a plan to help Ezra create/embellish/draw on valentines for all his classmates for Valentines Day junk at preschool tomorrow. The plan was going well, until Ezra saw all the Toy Story valentines unpacked from their box. Then we asked him which valentines he wanted to give to his friends, and he looked at us with a puzzled look. “But I thought these were all for me!!” he said, then he cried and pouted and argued until I convinced him that it wasn’t very valnetiney to be so greedy. Then, just about as suddenly as the panic about all the valentines started, it was over, and he was happily writing his friends’ names on the valentines, and even dipping into “his” pile of the extras so that the girls could have the valentines that he had designated for the girls. I guess we got him on the right track with the sharing thing….now we have to work on that gender stereotyping.

Like

Saturday, February 12th, 2011

Ezra’s like doing things and like talking using the word like to define what he is like doing. ,,I am like walking,” he will say when he is walking. Or, ”I am like climbing,” he will say when climbing. I have replied during such instances by saying, ,,You don’t need to add the word like. You are walking.” I have added another time, ”Like is a verb to show favor for an object or like is used if you are comparing something.” I think it is working for I haven’t heard him like say anything in like the past couple days. I is likely that it is only because he hasn’t felt the need to define an action while he like performs it.

Dressing

Friday, February 11th, 2011

Ezra was happy to show me, and I was happy to see, that Ezra can now dress himself! YES! I feel like a competent parent even though all the credit goes to -v- for convincing Ezra he is a big enough kid to dress himself and then patiently help him through the process, so Ezra doesn’t get discouraged by a twisted sleeve or a rolled strap.

The New Way

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

The New Way is the way home from Ezra’s preschool that was found one day many months ago after I didn’t want to wait to make a left turn on to a busy road, so I instead turned right thus finding a new way.

The first time I went The New Way Ezra fussed that we weren’t going The Way home, but once we drove by some railroad tracks, semi-trucks and to a busy roads with trees that make a tunnel over the road then The New Way became the way home, so now after pre-school when I get Ezra I ask him which way he wants to go, and he says, ,,The new way.”

Former Binky Addict

Friday, February 4th, 2011

I realized again today how nice it is Ezra no longer addicted to the binky. And then I realized he hasn’t licked his lips for months.

James and Gorden

Tuesday, February 1st, 2011

For the past days, James the Red Engine (also know as Ezra) has been running around the house tooting his horn and puffing and chuffing to help Gorden the Big Express Engine (me) deliver the Specials (freight) around the house to different stations. While I haven’t had to do much more than sit or stand due to a sprained ankle, James the Red Engine has done a lots of running and running and running having fun helping his friend Gorden the Big Express Engine while also tiring himself out for bedtime.
