Camping In The Yard

Sunday, July 31st, 2011

We slept in a tent out back last night as something fun and exciting to do as a family. The idea excited Ezra, and he was probably the only one to get good sleep for his body is young and nimble and able to flop around on uneven hard ground and not wake-up the next day feeling like like every muscle in his body was twisted around bone. I am only hoping he didn’t like camping out back too much and want to do it again soon for it will take a while for my body to recover. But what ever pain has was worth it for some family fun.

With Independence Comes Responsibility

Saturday, July 30th, 2011

After choosing to wipe his own butt, he gained independence. But now, I must teach him about the responsibility of not using an entire roll of toilet paper to wipe his butt. It is like he feels he needs to make toilet paper boxing gloves for one wipe. I have been telling him he needs and can use much less toilet paper. And he is getting better at using less toilet paper per cleaning, but still uses enough toilet paper to clog a toilet.

Duplo Days Are Near Done

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

I have taken upon myself to slowly transition Ezra from Duplo LEGO blocks (for ages 1.5 to 5) to the small normal LEGO blocks (ages 4+) by getting him a small 113 piece fire fighter LEGO set for his birthday gift. Although he will likely still play with Ezra Duplo LEGO blocks beyond the age of 5, I am excited to show him the many types of LEGO blocks that only come in the smaller LEGO size :)

Resisting Peer Pressure

Tuesday, July 26th, 2011

His preschool friend C for some reason thinks it’s funny to throw playground bark-chips at me and thinks it’s okay to throw bark-chips at me as long as Ezra throws bark-chips at me. Then they both throw bark-chips at me and I step away saying, ,,Please stop,” ”Your being rude,” and, ”It’s not nice to throw things at people when not play catch.” After it happened the second time, I had talk with Ezra on the way home and told him Ezra that it was rude to throw things at me or anyone without them wanting to have some thing thrown at them.

Today when I got Ezra from preschool his friend C tried to get Ezra to throw a rag at me, but Ezra looked at his friends said, ,,No.” His friend tried to get Ezra to throw bark-chips at me. Ezra said, ”No.” And on the way home I told him how proud I was of him not doing what his friend asked him to do because he knew that I didn’t like him doing it.

We smiled.

No More Child Proofing

Sunday, July 24th, 2011

-v- removed some child proofing locks from the cabinets today. It is weird being able to open the cabinet door to throw away trash and not need to push an annoying lever lock, which served a purpose, but is now just annoying because Ezra could push the lever back to open the cabinet door to the trash.

It’s Not Just Hugs and Kisses Every Day.

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

While his hand was better today, his attitude was shit. He whined about needing to leave preschool with me and not -v-. He complained about eating his corn. He even bitched about getting pudding for his treat before he ate it. He fussed about changing his cloths. He went from hating me to liking me more times that I could count. I can’t think of the many time he said, ,,I don’t like you, daddy,” for no other reason than me sitting or asking him to eat his vegetables, please. I even read him three big books for bed, and he still wouldn’t open his mouth and hold still, so I could brush his teeth. I did tell him how rude I though he was and hurt by his words and actions. We had an emotional moment then hugged and he kissed me on the cheek then we called it a night.

More Things Change…

Sunday, July 17th, 2011

While playing, he got big sliver in hand. He didn’t fuss or cry much about it. The big sliver came out, and the sliver stab wound doesn’t seem to hurt him, but the redness and one instance of him feeling something like burning in his hand, which had us worried and -v- taking him to see a doctor.

Doctor said everything appears normal, but we need to watch the red mark to make sure it doesn’t grow; watch his temperature and give him some antibiotics.

It seems like only yesterday when it was about every four months we had to give Ezra antibiotics for ear infections or had to worry about some sickness. While I am not as freaked out about Ezra’s wound as I was while he was younger, I still worry and that will never change.

The Return of Sheriff

Saturday, July 16th, 2011

I reprized my roll as Sheriff during the rainy morning. It could be the come back performance of Sheriff as Sheriff has been away for almost three weeks after being silenced by interest in baseball and being outside.

During The Return of Sheriff, Sheriff got to wear the special Siren Hat which is one of his favorite hats. Sheriff even was able to live in the Glass House built by Ezra and -v-.

Now, I remember how hard Sheriff’s voice in on my throat, but I didn’t forget the voice having had spoke it often during past months and by having a phrases, ,,Where’s my hat?” to help find the voice and become the Sheriff.

Helper

Thursday, July 14th, 2011

He offered to help set the table, so he carried the plates, bread and tomatoes to the table. Then he served the tomatoes and poured his own milk.

I smiled.

The Steep Hill

Thursday, July 14th, 2011

He took the Skuut bike to the park. He pushed the Skuut bike up the grassy hill to the slides and swings. He slide and swung then we left.

During the departure, he wanted to Skuut down the very steep part of the grassy hill on his Skuut bike. I shrugged. ,,OKay.”

The bike began to roll down the steep hill, and he fell off the bike on butt and back. The bike rolled down the hill.

He stood and said he wanted to go down the hill.

I smiled, got the bike and walked the steep grassy hill next to Ezra, put the bike on the hill. I held the bike until he gripped the handle bars and said he was ready. Then I let go.

And Ezra rolled down the steep hell coasting far from the steep hill.

Ezra In His New Box

Ezra In A Box

The Robot Arm

Saturday, July 9th, 2011

Ezra got a robot arm from Smith and Edwards. It has a grip that moves to pull a rod that moves clicking gears that moves two pinchers that shut to grab something.

He has been using the robot arm a lot. He used the robot arm to pick-up crushed news paper from a cardboard box holding his great great grandomother’s clock then he released the crushed paper to paper bags for recycling, so the clock could be unpack from the cardboard box, so he could use the cardboard box as a place to reach and grab things with his robot arm.

He Got A Foul Ball

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

We went with Uncle D to see the baseball game the Owlz versus the Raptors. After a few pitches a foul ball was hit to the far end of the field and rolled near where we sat. We sat around Ezra as he stood there with mitt. A player warming-up along the side got the foul ball and tossed it at Ezra. Uncle D caught the ball for Ezra. Then Ezra got the ball signed by the Raptor’s mascot. I was jealous for I have been to more baseball games than him and never got a foul ball, but I was able to enjoy through Ezra getting a foul ball.

Wipe My Own Butt

Monday, July 4th, 2011

Ezra has some great words of independence for me. ,,I can wipe my own butt,” he said to me. Then he showed me, and then I realized this is more proof of Ezra’s independence!
