Ezra May Pee On Fire Truck Bed

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

Ezra didn’t want to leave the park. Nor did he want to get into the bath tub. Then he didn’t want to leave the bath tub. After getting out of the bath tub Ezra didn’t want to wear his diaper or shorts or shirt. He wanted nothing more than to fuss loud and let us know he didn’t want to wear a diaper or shorts or shirt.

We did try to put his diaper on his body, but after a few wild shakes of Ezra we realized Ezra didn’t want to be clothed.

Ezra did fall asleep on his Fire Truck Bed. He has woke a couple times. He may wake again if he pees on the Fire Truck Bed.

What a day and night!

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

Today involved some cleaning and running around inside the house and then some playing, walking, and running around the neighborhood outside the house, then nap, BBQ and then a big night-time transition!   (Ezra was super special awesome at the BBQ and everyone loved him, but not more than I did.)  We got home from the BBQ past his normal-ish bedtime, and it took a while before he was willing to consider going to bed. After lying in his crib for a few minutes, he stood up and said something like “ezra fire engine” which made me think he wanted to sleep in his fire engine bed. So I asked if that’s what he wanted to do, and he said yes. So we moved Ezra, his doggie, his pillow, his blanket, and his water over to the fire engine bed. And he got all situated like he was going to sleep, and seemed sort of asleep when we left the room. I’m totally paranoid and hoping he doesn’t wake up in the middle of the night,  figure out how to open the door to his bedroom, and run rampant around the house or get outside.  eeek! Ezra’s in his big boy bed! If he’s going to sleep there regularly, I have to remember to switch the mattress so he’s not sleeping too long on that yucky chemical filled vinyl one that came with the bed.

Sometimes I Feel Like Ezra Believes Me To Be His Rival

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

Maybe it’s when he pushes on me and says, ,,Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnno,” with a long dramatic push, when I try to help him instead of -v- like today when I said I would pick him up from the ground because -v- was cooking, and Ezra wanted to be picked up. Maybe it is when he gives me the hand and says, ”No,” when I say I will watch videos with him instead of -v-. Maybe it’s the squirming and fussing he has when I try to get him out of the car seat instead of -v-.

He says these Nos and Don’ts when it involves me doing something with him instead of -v-, I feel, because by me doing it means he will have less time with -v-. I feel as if he feels I am taking time from -v-, like I am competing for -v-’s time.

Ezra Fall Down Go Boom

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

It happened at daycare. Apparently, he was vying for seat on some stairs by a friend and slipped, fell, hit. Now there is a HUGE bump on his head. HUGE. The bump is near half his forehead. No big deal though it a big bump. He’s healthy. He’s in good spirits. Doesn’t even seemed phased. I suppose this is likely the beginning of a life time of bumps, bruises and scrapes for some one as crazy and wild as Ezra.

BIG

Monday, May 4th, 2009

Maybe it was the few days away from Ezra, but he is now seeming to be bigger. Like a massive baby giant.

Of course, my perception of him being big is also further enforced by the fact he’s beginning to out grow cloths he’s been wearing for months. The pants he wore today looked like he was going to wading. The one-piece pajamas he wore last night will need to feet cut off if they are going to fit him anymore. A few of the shirt just don’t fit easy over his head any more.

And last but not least, he’s more difficult to carry during those few times he allow me to pick him up. I can only go about a two blocks before I need to switch arms and begin to tell Ezra how big he is.

Independent Ezra

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

He didn’t want to hold my had down the steps from house as we went outside. He didn’t want to hold my hand while crossing the street. He didn’t want any help getting his push/ride dump truck unstuck from grass when he went off roading. He resisted my gentle push to keep him going when crossing an easement to a store’s parking lot. He didn’t want me to stand right next to him while we watched cars. He was happy to let me carry him back to the house, but wanted to climb the stairs by himself once we arrived home.

Future Skateboarder?

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Ezra’s seen some skateboarders at the park a couple of times. Ever since he’s seen the skateboarding kids he’s been acting like he’s skateboarding. First it was the base of wooden block train he tries to stand upon like skateboard. Then it was the floor and him standing sideways like on a skateboard and bending at the knees then sort of jumping up. Today the skateboard was a small plastic container. He was bending at the knees and grabbing the rim of the small plastic container then he stood up suddenly like he ollied. Then he smiled. Then he stood sideways and put his arms out to the side like balancing on a skateboard.

I feel that he may be getting a skateboard and a helmet for his birthday. Of course, next week he may notice all the bikes being peddled around the neighborhood and begin to act like a chair is a bike.

Ezra is Big Fun!

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

Ezra is getting bigger! It seems like he is bigger today than yesterday. Kalab and I both seemed to think so, so it must be true. Pretty soon, Ezra will be 6 feet tall.

We had so much fun hanging out with Ezra this weekend! It makes me sad that it’s Sunday and we will be spending the day at work, rather than going to the park, reading books, playing with toys and walking along the streets to look for taxis, busses, u-hauls and motorcycles. That sounds like way more fun than work : (

Ezra also proved his spanish vocabulary is growing! He wants mas mango, mas sesame street, and mas play time. He’s so cute when he says it : )

I can’t believe one little kid could be this much fun!

Had A Boost

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

Ezra had a booster seat strapped to a dinner table chair for a few months to make eating at the dinner table easy. This booster seat was strapped to the dinning table chair for a few months between now and the time he stopped using his high-chair. Ezra did like eating in his booster seat, but after a while he seemed to hate being belted down and after a while we stopped belting him down, and then he seemed to hate sitting in a molded seat, so then he just sat on a different seat, and now there is no more booster seat strapped to a chair.

We had friends over and there was not enough seats to seat everyone if we left the booster seat on a dinning table chair, and Ezra hasn’t used the booster seat in some time, and he wouldn’t sit in it, and I wasn’t going to sit in it, so I removed it from chair once and for all.Ezra sat, as he has for a few months, on a dinning table chair. When he was tired of sitting, he kneeled.

We are okay with him kneeling on a dinning table chair because some times he probably wants to be a little more above his food when eating. Once in a while he does try to stand on his chair, but this is rare now because we lower our tone and ask him to please sit, and he does, so there is no more need for a booster seat.

Electric Slide!

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Electric SlideThis is not the picture from today, but I think this is generally a pretty accurate image of what Ezra’s hair looks like when he goes down any of those plastic slides that are ubiquitous on today’s playgrounds. Anyway, today we went over to the park with little J and her mom, and Ezra wanted to do nothing but go down the slide. Usually this means that I climb up to the top with him and either go down after him or go back down the stairs. There were several other kids about Ezra’s age, maybe a little older, at the park today who also wanted to go down the slide,  and they were climbing up all on their own. So of course, Ezra had to climb up the slide stairs all by himself. I was a little nervous and tried to hang on to him from beside the slide stairs…but it wasn’t really necessary because he climbed all the way up, all by himself! I think he had way more fun than usual coming down the slide. So much that he started getting all crazy and inventive about how he was going to go down the slide…head first, backwards, on his stomach, etc.  Hopefully Ezra will be content with this slide for a while, because the other slides at the park are I think just still too big, plus they have no real “stairs” so he’s always trying to walk up the slide itself…

No!

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

I asked Ezra today if he wanted to go upstairs so we could change his diaper, and he looked at me with a blank stare. Then he shook his head back and forth. And then…..he said no! And then no no no!After the shock of hearing Ezra say “no”, we went upstairs and changed his diaper anyway. I mean, come on, it was totally a rhetorical question!

Ezra’s Girlfriend

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

Ezra has a girlfriend at playcare. She is the only person at playcare that he mentions, which is done by him saying her name a lot everyday. He says her name in the morning after waking up. He says her name during morning snack. He says her name on the ride to playcare. He says her name on the way from playcare, during dinner, during play time and before bed. During the weekend he mentions her name for what seems like every hour. Sometimes he will repeat it over and over and over.

And though I have never seen his girlfriend nor him interact with his girlfriend, -v- says she is cute, and that it is cute when they both see each other at playcare. From what -v- says, they both scream with excitement and smile and Ezra then becomes shy and hides against -v-’s legs.

Y

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

Y is the letter Ezra points at on the fridge more than any other magnet letter. It is also the letter he seems to say better than the other letters of the alphabet.

This discovery was made the other day while I was in the kitchen preparing dinner. It caught be me by surprise when he said, ,,Y,” and sort of made me tense because I thought he had began he Why Stage. A stage I have heard happens some time after the age of two. A stage that is a frame of time when the child asks the parents, ,,Why? Why? Why?…” It made me tense because I just don’t know if I am ready to try to answer an endless amount of questions.

The Big Metal Spoon

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

Ezra likes the big metal spoon. He is now putting more food into his mouth from the big metal spoon. He wants to use the big metal spoon, and he has since he reached for it, and -v- gave him a big metal spoon, and he ate with the big metal spoon. He seems to like the big metal spoon because he can use the weight of the spoon to scoop deep into food and the size of the big metal spoon to scoop more food than he ever did scoop with the small plastic spoon, as he demonstrated with the big metal spoon this morning while eating rice-cereal-plain-yogurt-apple-sauce cereal and the Puffins with milk (there were drops of milk on the floor after the Puffins were ate).

Cool Things

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

…When I ask for Ezra to turn off the radio in his room before we leave the room and then he turn off the radio. …When he turns off the radio in his room without asking. …How he says, ,,WOW,” when a new type of motorized vehicle drives past. …That he likes to brush his teeth. …That he is petting the cats with soft touches. …That he helps unload the dishwasher by lifting the dishes from the bottom rack and into the air for -v- or me to grab. …When he wants to sit at the table and eat. …When he likes what I cook. …That he plays crazy fun ball. …How he likes to stare at things. …How he actually is listening to me and is beginning to understand. …How he pushes the boundaries of what he can and can’t hit with a toy hammer. …How he dances to most music sitting or standing even if it is only with his right arm extending and contracting with the beat.
