Ezra’s mood swings swung like the pendulum of a grandfather clock. Except the tick-tock of pendulum was cry-shout that started and stopped from minute to minute. One minute he didn’t want the empanada, salsa shouting and crying them to be removed from plate then put back on plate then the next minute he was silent as he ate. One minute he didn’t want books read to him and then he wanted books read to him. Then the next minute he was silent as he listened to -v- read. All the time he was wiping his nose causing one cheek to become more red.
The mood swings were caused by being tired; having a runny nose for weeks; an ear infection; poop that causes rashes because of the antibiotics for the ear infection kill stomach bacteria; and there is a muck sickness the family can’t seem kick. All seems to have pushed Ezra near the edges of sanity and insanity. It has been too much time since he has probably had a great night of peaceful sleep.

I woke up to Ezra fussing really, really loud this morning. I found it was because -v- was trying to change Ezra’s diaper. This has been a sound I haven’t heard much during the past couple days for he didn’t fuss much when we had to clean up his diarrhea and change his diaper. The really, really loud fussing from Ezra woke me from sleep because of a diaper change, and at first I was grumpy about it, but then I realized that if he is fussing about his diaper then he is returning to health.

He is. In fact, we were just upstairs to get his socks on for he has decided he wants to remain awake.
…His is still awake. It is dark. I can hear him sucking on his binky. He and -v- are on the couch. They sit lengthwise on the couch with Ezra sitting with back on -v-’s stomach. Their legs form V’s and blanket covers. He is sitting how he sat when he was watching videos with Grandma O. It is how he likes to sit on the couch now.
…Now they are laying on couch. He doesn’t want me near. He screamed and squirmed when I carried him down the stairs instead of -v- carrying him down the stairs.
…Now he is sleeping. …He was. Valerie is checking… Will he?

Still dizzy from Ezra. We followed him to the park to the traffic intersection to home. Then it was following Ezra around the yard then around the block with him pushing long is riding dump truck. Then he ran around the house wanting to see this and that and be here and there.
And throughout the day Ezra would pause in his running around to spin in circles and make himself dizzy and stumble to the ground laughing and looking up. Then he would stand up and do it again with -v- and I just making sure he didn’t fall and hit his head on a table or chair. Then he would stop, laugh and begin the running around again looking at this and playing with that. There was no controlling Ezra. Even watching the spinning fan made him seem to go crazy.
Somehow we were able to get him to go to sleep. It did take more time than normal to calm him for sleep. He had to listen to Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash singing Jackson looped more times than I can think until there was silence and he was sleeping.

Ezra has been super clingy to -v- as she as written. He becomes so clingy once in a while he wants to cling his teeth to -v-, which has never happened to me. Though I am at times jealous of the fact Ezra is clung to -v-, I am not jealous about his clinging with his teeth to her flesh.

The last baby gate is down. The baby gate was blocking Ezra from going into the mud room and into a restroom. There was no ceremony or speech or cheer. It was taken down after Ezra climbed the gate one last time and began to pull and push on the gate while standing on it. -v- reasoned that he’ll be climbing over it soon anyway.
I am happy the gate is down. Though this means that we will now need to be sure to close the door to the restroom, and now we will need to clean mud room more often, I will no longer need to hurdle the gate every time I am in a rush to use the restroom, so I am happy the gate has been take down.Ezra is happy for this is yet another place he may roam.

Ezra has been awake for an hour and a half. He has been smiling and laughing and pointing and talking and looking at things. He has sat and walked and ran. He has ate.
It has been calm with only a little fuss from Ezra when -v- wouldn’t let him stand on a chair.
Just now -v- had to stop him from drawing with crayon on the window. He didn’t even put up a fuss like he would when he is sleepy after a day of playcare.
Is this what I miss when he is at playcare and I am at work?

Ear Infections fucking suck because they cause Ezra pain; because they wake Ezra often during the night; because they prevent Ezra from napping; because they create a Fussy Ezra; because they fear use to antibiotics; because they worry a parent about surgery on their child to ‘get tubes’; because they make a parent paranoid about their child’s health; because they create cries that no parent wants to hear; because they cause Ezra pain.

Ezra has created his own sign for milk! It is only used for “mama milk” - Ezra hasn’t yet developed a drinking relationship with cow’s milk and he currently only uses it to wash his hands or squirt on his high chair tray. The first time he did this was last week when Grandma O was here visiting. I had come home from work, and was sitting in the living room with Ezra, Grandma O, and Kalab.  Ezra walked over to the couch and grabbed a pillow - one that I have frequently used to prop him up while he is nursing. I thought maybe he was just going to flop down with it on the floor, but instead, he walked it over to where I was sitting, and practically threw it at me! Then he waved his arms in the way he does when he wants to be picked up. So I thought this was cute and decided that since he had figured out a way to ask me, I would let him nurse. This might have been a mistake. Now every time Ezra wants to nurse (which has been often the last few days because it’s been so hot and he is teething), he picks up a pillow and gives me the sign for milk. And if I refuse him, he gets sort of upset!
Ezra’s sign for “mama milk” is so great I wish I had it on video! Maybe Kalab can help with this.
